Got a question? Hopefully we’ve covered the main ones, but if we have missed anything please do not hesitate to get in touch.

1Am I fit enough for Portsmouth Outdoor Fitness?

Whether this is your first time attending a fitness class, or you are a seasoned gym pro, you can be confident Portsmouth Outdoor Fitness caters for all levels of fitness.

Portsmouth Outdoor Fitness uses a 3-tier bib system based on beginner, intermediate and advanced fitness levels.

At your first FREE taster session you will be asked to complete a Health Form which our instructors will review, and following discussion on your exercise history, will allocate you a bib level. The class will be structured around the three bib levels, for example, repetitions will be scaled and allocated dependent on fitness levels.

We also run POF Lite, which is a gentler version of POF and is suitable for those returning to exercise after a break. These classes run every Saturday at 8.30am..

2What level am I? Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced?

At your first FREE session, our instructors will review your health form, discuss your exercise history and advise which level we would advise you to start on.

We would allocate you to one of the three levels:

Beginners – Rarely exercises or trains.

Intermediate – Exercise’s approximately 2/3 times a week

Advanced - Exercise’s approximately 4/5 times a week

3What should I wear/bring?

We would advise against wearing expensive gym clothes that you are not prepared to get dirty or wet. You will be training outside and exercises may be on the floor with no mats.

We would strongly recommend wearing sports trainers not fashion trainers.

Instructors will not be able to carry any ‘extra’ clothing you bring and take off during the class.

We would advise against wearing expensive jewellery or watches. Please feel free to wear a fitness watch/tracker. No mobile phones are to be carried during the class – please leave these at home/in your car.

Car keys can be left securely with the instructor.

4Do I need to bring water?
There is no need to bring your own water bottle to classes. Instructors will carry enough water for all members to have during the class. It will be offered in re-usable plastic bottles.
5Where do you meet for each class?
The meeting point for all classes is next to Dirt2Road, on Clarence Esplanade. The meeting point is the same place each week, for every class. On occasion we may move to another location to mix up the training and take full advantage of our fitness playground, and this will be communicated on the Facebook group.
6Where can I park?
There are many places to park near our meeting point. Please check local tariffs for parking prices.
7Will the class go ahead if it’s raining or snowing?
Portsmouth Outdoor Fitness classes will run whatever the weather.
